THE DPX GEAR HEST/F URBAN G10 A SMALLER, TOUGHER, AMERICAN HARD USE EDC FOLDER BUILT TO LAST LIFETIMES

Designed by Robert Young Pelton for DPx Gear, the DPx HEST/F Urban is the last pocket knife you'll need for every day carry. Small, light and feature-packed, it’s just as at home in your jeans as it is in the tackle box. An heirloom quality piece of US craftsmanship that can be passed down generations with the support of a no-questions-asked lifetime warranty DPx Gear customers deserve. The Urban reduces size and weight while increasing strength. That’s not something you hear much these days.

Designer Robert Young Pelton is not just known for surviving wars, he is also an award winning designer, having earned recognition for his knife designs and has secured over a dozen patents licensed to DPx Gear. When Pelton was challenged with creating a smaller EDC version of the legendary hard use DPx HEST/F 2.0,  the results were impressive.  The HEST 2.0 features a thicker (.19" vs the Urban’s .16" thickness), longer (the 2.0 is 3.15” long vs the Urban’s 2.9”) blade but shares the same frame thickness with its smaller brother, the Urban. Weight has been reduced by an ounce and half (4.9 oz vs 3.55 oz) yet the usable blade edge is only about a quarter on an inch less.

The Urban G10 materials make familiar and liberal use of DPx hallmarks like Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V (UNS designation R56400) alpha-beta titanium alloy for the lock bar frame side.

To lighten the G10 version we use the rough grip phenolic epoxy resin to make a lighter, smaller but actually tougher when thicknesses to length is tested. In keeping with only using American-made materials, the blade steel is CPM 154. Crucible Particle Metallurgy makes steels specifically for hard use knives. CPM 154 is a powdered steel (created by molten metal blown through a small nozzle and then cooled into a powder using high-pressure gas bursts). The powdered metal is then using Isostatic powder compacted into shape, creating a perfect mixture made up of extremely fine particles. This gives the final DPx steel a flawless finish with better corrosion resistance and edge holding.

The finish of a DPx Gear knife is flawless. The Urban G10 in Black features a rough finish G10 frame side and a stone washed raw Ti side. The hardware is 440 Stainless and the high saber grind blade is an uncoated smooth finish.

A flathead screw is included with the HEST/F Urban G10.  A Tungsten Carbide glass breaker is available as an accessory.  NOTE: Some lifestyle shots may show the glass breaker screw attached.

A made in America, hard use EDC folding knife that looks good, feels greats and lasts a lifetime.

  • Patented DPx Gear blade notch doubles as bottle opener and quick open feature. Designed to allow the knife to open faster than an automatic and to deploy the blade to the rear of the holder, keeping it safe from the assailant. • Fully reversible, deep carry pocket clip. A deep pocket clip bent from heat treated grade 6 Ti alloy means your pocket knife rides as low and unobtrusively as possible in your pocket. The angle of the clip over the frame lock adds additional support to the lock. The DPx HEST/F Urban is made from not just durable materials, but stain free materials. Even the clip, screws and hardware are designed to take harsh environments with ease.
  • A proven frame lock with steel insert. The frame lock is a simple reliable lockup. but we go further, we added a stainless steel hardened cap to eliminate wear on the lock face.

The best mineral sunscreen
Scent: Unscented
I’m so impressed by this sunscreen! I’ve been using mineral sunscreens for years and this blows every other one I’ve tried out of the water. It is silky smooth and applies so easily, absorbs well and doesn’t feel greasy or heavy. It doesn’t leave a white cast but it still protects very well! Of course like any sunscreen it’s only as effective as your usage, so reapplying is paramount. The unscented truly has no smell to it, which is something I appreciate. Using it for the first time, neither myself or my fair kiddos got sunburnt. It’s just all around a fantastic, clean mineral sunscreen and will be my go to from now on!

Wellness Staple for Sensitive Skin
Scent: Pear & Coconut Water, Scent: Pear & Coconut Water
I’m becoming much more intentional about the products I use on and around my body, especially while traveling, and this sunscreen ended up being one of the best things we packed for our girls trip to Mexico. My friend has extremely sensitive skin and typically reacts to a lot of sunscreens, so we wanted something mineral-based, reef safe, and more wellness-conscious overall. We split one bottle between the two of us over about five days, and honestly it held up really well. It felt lightweight for a mineral sunscreen, blended in better than expected, and didn’t leave our skin feeling greasy or irritated in the heat. Most importantly, neither of us experienced sensitivity issues or breakouts during the trip. I also appreciated the peace of mind of using something reef safe while spending so much time in the ocean. It’s one of those products that aligns well with a more mindful, health-focused lifestyle without sacrificing effectiveness.

Love the scent
Scent: Tropical Breeze
This sunscreen has such a great scent and is easy to apply with no white cast. Skin doesn't feel clogged or sweaty. Easy to apply and distribute. Like that it's a zinc oxide sunscreen that is doesn't leave a white cast and has a wonderful tropical scent. Wish it came in SPF 50 or higher.

ACTUALLY unscented! Finally!
Scent: Unscented
I have been on a personal mission to find a truly unscented sunscreen, as I have extremely sensitive skin and medical conditions that cause me to have skin reactions to fragrance. I have tested out 10+ different sunscreens and even in those that do not list a fragrance, can still have a strong smell or scent due to one or more of their ingredients. This sunscreen truly is UNSCENTED. I was even able to use it on my face today, which until now I have been able to do successfully with only one other sunscreen. I have yet to try out this sunscreen in direct sunlight for a prolonged period of time, so I cannot speak for how effective the SPF 30 is for activities out in the sun, but I was able to comfortably wear it for walking my dog for 20 or so minutes while wearing a sun hat, which is normal use for me when it comes to sunscreen. I will come back and update this review if anything changes as far as sun sensitivity or if any burning takes place. Now for the cons: it felt a bit heavy or "stifley" on my face, but I have sensory processing issues so I'm sensitive, and there was pilling on my face hours later. So far I would recommend this sunscreen and am stoked to have discovered it. It is my current go-to for my body sunscreen, and haruhara wonder black rice SPF 50 velvet finish sunscreen is my go-to for face sunscreen

Stunning daily SPF
Scent: Unscented
Hands down the best daily SPF I've ever used. It's not sweat/water resistant, so not great for outdoors, but for a daily moisturizing SPF lotion? 10/10. Minimal white cast, but it's a mineral SPF, so not zero cast. Not irritating at all, no hidden chemical boosters, no eye sting, does not cause my eczema to act up, and extremely moisturizing. Most mineral spfs leave me like a corn husk, but this one actually improves my skin's hydration. I wish I could give this more stars. My only criticism is the brand's use of "clean" marketing language. This isn't a real term, it's just a marketing strategy. The product itself though? Stunning.
